We Need Foster Homes!

We typically have about 80 dogs in our care at any given time. We also typically have up to 15 dogs waiting to get into foster homes.

POMDR provides supplies such as crate, bed, collar, harness, leash, id tag, bowls, toys and flea prevention. We also cover all medical expenses. We ask that our foster homes provide the food and a loving, safe home until your foster dog is adopted.

Fostering is a wonderful way to help dogs left behind find their forever homes. You may also want to foster as a way of finding the perfect match for your home if you are looking to add a dog to your family.

Some dogs in our program are very popular, and multiple foster volunteers may be interested in fostering the same one. If the dog you are interested in is no longer available, please be patient — many others still need a foster home. Please note that some dogs may have medical or behavioral needs, which will be disclosed (if known) when you inquire about them. Thank you for your patience.

Fostering — a very rewarding job

We do not have a facility where our dogs are kept. All of our dogs live in foster homes as members of the family until they find their permanent home. Foster parents serve as a bridge for our dogs to transition from their previous family experience to their new homes. For dogs who have lost their family, this can be a very difficult and stressful time, and they will need compassion and patience while they adjust to a new home and a new routine. For dogs who come from a shelter or from a neglectful or abusive situation, the adjustment to a loving foster home may be a dream come true.

Fostering can be one of the most rewarding experiences a dog lover can have. Often the foster parents feel they have received as much, if not more, than they have given. If you would like to become a foster volunteer, please fill out an online volunteer application.
